Ride closures happen often in Disney World — it’s just something you might want to expect when you visit the parks.
Sometimes weather can cause rides to close (especially outdoor rides). Sometimes rides have technical issues. Sometimes other problems pop up. But a ride closure can mess with your daily plans in the parks. Well, folks who visited Magic Kingdom yesterday with plans to ride Big Thunder Mountain Railroad were in for a surprise: the ride was closed…a LOT.
Yes, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad had a bad day yesterday. The ride was closed from noon to 2PM and then was closed again at 3PM and remained closed until 6PM. We can imagine that proved a bit frustrating for folks who were trying to ride it yesterday afternoon.
So what should you do when that happens? Well, the good news is that rides that temporarily close generally reopen later in the day. To find out when that happens, you’ll want to keep a close eye on the My Disney Experience app. You can see the status of the ride if you search for it or if you click on it from the Magic Kingdom map in the app. If you time it just right, you can head on over quickly and ride it while there’s still a short wait.
