3 Ways to Skip the Line at Orlando Airport Security

Nothing puts a damper on your vacation plans like having to wait through an absolutely unhinged line for security at the airport.

Orlando International Airport

And, with Orlando International Airport (MCO) expecting record-breaking travel dates due to Spring Break and summer holidays, chances are you might find yourself in one such line in the near future if you fly to Disney World. But, we’re sharing three ways you can actually skip the line at Orlando Airport security!

Disney Vacation Planner

MCO Reserve

MCO Reserve is the only free way to skip the security line at the Orlando Airport. The program allows you to pre-register for a time slot to go through security, and when you get to the airport, you’ll have access to an exclusive (and shorter!) MCO Reserve security line.

You can now access MCO Reserve from 5:00am to 5:00pm, and your flight is eligible if it’s between 6:30AM to 8:30PM. It’s important to note that MCO Reserve is not available for Clear+ or TSA PreCheck passengers.

Clear+

Another option is Clear+ — an annual membership program that costs $189 per year. Clear is designed to speed up airport security by using fingerprint and retinal scans instead of traditional forms of ID. It skips the initial line of having a live TSA agent check your boarding pass and ID.

You’ll then be transported to the front of the security line by a Clear representative. Keep in mind that this is separate from TSA PreCheck and Global Entry, so you’ll still have to remove your shoes, belt, etc. when going through security.

TSA PreCheck

TSA PreCheck has been around for a while now, but in case you’re not familiar — it’s a US government-run program that allows for expedited service through more than 200 airports throughout the United States. The cost is $78 for five years.

Using TSA PreCheck, you typically don’t have to remove your shoes, belt, light jacket, laptop, or approved liquids from your luggage. You can apply for TSA PreCheck online and will have to attend an appointment for a background check and fingerprinting.

  1. Highly recommend TSA Pre-check. It has saved us many times in various airports. Columbus, Chicago and Orlando to name a few. Best bang for your buck.

  2. Clear + at mco is a joke. Went there early( 2 weeks apart) and the line did not move very fast at all. I had clear and pre check. The precheck line was moving but not my clear line. They only had 1 person manning the machines. The other employees were administrative only, it seems. Had we not been so early, we would have been close to missing our flight.
