2 Universal Orlando Attractions Have CLOSED Indefinitely

From time to time, rides and attractions are taken out of production temporarily for various reasons, however, we’re starting to get worried about a few at Universal Orlando.

We already knew that one popular kid’s attraction would be temporarily closed however, we weren’t exactly sure how long that closure would last. While we’ve been keeping up with Universal’s latest closures and construction, including on their new park Epic Universe, we noticed something, recently, that really caught our attention.

Universal Orlando has made major changes to its attractions offerings. While it’s not uncommon for theme parks to have rides and attractions temporarily close for things like regularly scheduled maintenance, upkeep, and the occasional technical difficulties keeping them in operation, it appears that two of Universal’s popular attractions may have fallen victim to extended closures.

Universal Orlando’s website lists several attractions on its temporary closures page, including One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish in Seuss Landing and Dudley Doo-Right’s Ripsaw Falls in Toon Lagoon. Both of which have ending dates listed for their closures.

However, it was interesting to note that the two remaining attractions on that list, The Nighttime Lights at Hogwarts Castle and Pteranodon Flyers do not include ending dates for their closures.

Camp Jurassic

Both of these very popular attractions have been substantial reasons in the past to visit Universal’s Islands of Adventure, especially when traveling with younger kids. In the Pteranodon Flyers, small children can board (with a parent right behind them), a seat that will journey high above the Camp Jurassic area for a bird’s (err, Pteranodon’s) eye view of this section of the land. It’s one of the most requested attractions, even the kids of some of our team have come to know and enjoy it during their visit to the park. We’ve seen wait times for this attraction soar to multiple-hour waits on busy days.

Additionally, the Nighttime Lights at Hogwarts Castle has been a great way to wind down a day at the parks with a jaunty send-off for the night. It’s displayed as projections, lights, familiar tunes from the Harry Potter soundtrack, and yes, even a bit of pyro magic (fireworks) to fill the sky!

We’re not sure how soon we could see both of these attractions return, but for the foreseeable future, we wouldn’t recommend you plan on enjoying either of these, as they currently don’t have listed performance times.

We’re constantly keeping up with the latest changes and closures around Universal Studios, Islands of Adventure, and more so be sure to stay tuned with us for all the details!
