Tell me about the Disneyland Hotel.

The Disneyland Hotel (DLH) is located across Disneyland Drive from Disneyland and next to Downtown Disney. The hotel consists of three high-rise towers overlooking the extensive grounds. In addition to the dining, pool, shopping and recreation areas there is also a large convention facility. Originally built in 1955 and owned by Jack Wrather and his wife, actress Bonita Granville, the Walt Disney Company purchased the property in 1988.

During the construction of Downtown Disney in 1998-2001 the grounds of the Disneyland Hotel were significantly changed: The rooms and buildings in the Oriental Gardens area were removed and the Monorail Plaza, containing shops and restaurants, was demolished. The monorail station remained in the same location but was remodeled. The pool area was extensively refurbished and rethemed as the Never Land Pool.

What type of accommodations are available?

The Disneyland Hotel has 990 rooms and suites. Standard rooms are 364-415 square feet with either a king-size bed or two queen-size beds and will accommodate up to five people. In addition to the 930 standard hotel rooms there are 60 one- two- or three-bedroom suites, ranging in size from 740-3,400 square feet. These include the 1,320 sq ft Mickey Mouse Penthouse and the 1,400 sq ft Pirates of the Caribbean Suite.

What are the differences between the towers?

The Dreams Tower (formerly the Sierra Tower) is closest to Downtown Disney and the theme parks. Most of the rooms are considered "view" rooms, with a view of either the pool area or Downtown Disney and the parks. All of the 79 concierge rooms are located in the Dreams Tower, as are the Mickey Penthouse and the Pirates of the Caribbean Suite.

The Magic Tower (formerly the Marina Tower) is the "main" tower, with the lobby and gift shops located on its first floor. Standard view rooms look over the hotel entrance towards the convention center and parking lot, while view rooms look over the Never Land Pool area.

The Wonder Tower (formerly the Bonita Tower) is the furthest away from the Never Land Pool and the parks. Standard view rooms overlook the parking lot, while view rooms overlook the waterfall/grotto area.

Are there any Smoking rooms?

The Disneyland Hotel is a non-smoking hotel. Smoking is not permitted anywhere inside the hotel or its rooms, balconies, shops, restaurants or pool areas. Smoking is only allowed in designated outdoor areas.

Where can I park my car?

Valet parking is available for $14/day. Self-parking is included in the resort fee - you may park in the surface lot adjacent to the hotel or in the parking garage. Upon check-in you'll receive a parking permit - place this on the car's dashboard.

What time is Check-in/Check-out?

Check-in time is 3:00 p.m., check-out time is 11:00 a.m. Express Checkout is available, though they ask that you call an Express Checkout number when you leave the room so they know the room is unoccupied.

What kind of Concierge service is available?

Concierge rooms are located in the Dreams Tower and have views either of the Never Land Pool or Downtown Disney/theme parks. The Concierge Lounge, located on the 11th floor of the tower, is open from 6:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Cast Members at the Concierge desk can assist you in making dining arrangements or other plans.

Are there special activities for kids?

Yes. There are specific activities such as crafts and storytelling sessions for children at the hotel, and they even have their own pool in the pool area. Children of hotel guests may also participate in Pinocchio's Workshop at the Grand Californian. This is an evening program for kids aged 5-12, which includes arts and crafts, dinner, snacks and Disney movies. Parents should make a reservation with Guest Services: 714-635-2300.

How do I get to...?

Downtown Disney: Take the walkway between the Magic and Dreams Towers and follow the signs.

Disneyland: Either take the monorail from the Downtown Disney monorail station, or walk through Downtown Disney to the Main Entrance.

Disney's California Adventure: Either walk through Downtown Disney to the Main Entrance, or use the Grand Californian's entrance, located next to Napa Rose.

Grand Californian/Paradise Pier Hotel: Take the walkway between the Magic and Dreams towers and follow the signs leading to the right. Or take the walkway along the Never Land Pool area towards the Wonder Tower and follow the signs. With this route to get to the Grand Californian you'll need to cross Disneyland Drive at the stop light and proceed to the hotel entrance.

Self-parking lot: Exit the main entrance of the hotel and walk past the entrance to the Convention Center. The parking garage will be to your left, the surface lot is straight ahead.

What is the Disneyland Monorail service like?

The Disneyland Monorail station is located at the end of Downtown Disney closest to the Magic and Dreams Towers, but it is not actually directly accessible from either tower. Anyone wishing to ride the monorail must pass through the security checkpoint at the monorail station and must present a valid Disneyland ticket for entry, since passengers disembark at the Tomorrowland Station inside Disneyland park.

From the Downtown Disney station the monorail passes by Downtown Disney and the Grand Californian hotel, as well as the Main Entrance to Disneyland. As it approaches the Tomorrowland station it circles the Matterhorn and passes over the Finding Nemo Submarine Lagoon before stopping at the Tomorrowland station. The trip takes about 5 minutes.

At busier times of day, typically evening and park closing, Disney Resort guests receive priority boarding at the Tomorrowland Station upon showing their resort ID slip.

Is morning coffee available?

In-room coffee makers are available upon request, or you may purchase coffee at The Coffee House, which opens at 6:00 a.m.

Describe the restaurants at the Disneyland Hotel.

The Coffee House - Located near the Never Land Pool and open from 6:00 a.m. to midnight. Selection of pastries and "to go" salads and sandwiches. Coffee beverages, fruit, sodas and cookies are also available.

Croc's Bits 'n' Bites - Counter service restaurant near the Dreams Tower, serving burgers, chicken sandwiches and fries.

Goofy's Kitchen - Join Chef Goofy and other favorite Disney characters at this character buffet restaurant serving brunch and dinner.

Hook's Pointe - Featuring mesquite-grilled steak and seafood dinner selections along with an excellent selection of California wines. Located in the restaurant complex near the Dreams Tower, on the second floor overlooking the Never Land Pool. Priority Seating arrangements should be made in advance.

The Lost Bar - Located in the restaurant complex between the Never Land Pool and the Dreams Tower. Open-air bar with nine TV screens showing sporting events. Full bar plus food items off the grill.

The Lounge - Located outside Steakhouse 55. In addition to the full bar, salads and sandwiches are available for lunch and a selection of appetizers in the evening.

Steakhouse 55 - (Formerly known as Granville's.) Serving breakfast and dinner. At breakfast, enjoy a large selection of breakfast specialties like Eggs Benedict and Huevos Rancheros in addition to traditional favorites. The dinner menu features a wide variety of certified Angus steak cuts as well as seafood choices and an extensive wine list. A three-course prix fixe menu is also available. Priority Seating arrangements should be made in advance.

Wine Cellar - Small, intimate wine bar with a fine selection of wines and cheeses. Desserts from Hook's Pointe also available. Located under the Hook's Pointe restaurant.

What about laundry facilities?

A guest laundry facility is available at the Cove Beach and Pool area, next to the Team Mickey Workout room. Washers, dryers, change machine, soap dispenser and table and chairs are available. The hotel also provides dry cleaning and laundry services.

Are there any special programs?

Upon check-in guests receive a schedule of hotel events. Some activities are open to anyone while others may require sign-up and/or paying an additional fee.

Is there high speed internet access?

Yes. Broadband access (network cable provided) is available in each room. Wireless access is available in the lobby, pool area, and Lounge. Internet access is included in the resort fee, and there's no additional charge.

What types of recreation are available?

There are two pool areas at the Disneyland Hotel. The Never Land Pool area includes Hook's Ship, Skull Rock and a suspension bridge leading to a 100-foot water slide. There's also a kid-size slide and the Mermaid Lagoon spa area. A room key is required for entry.

The Cove Pool and Beach is located near the Wonder Tower. There are two swimming pools plus a wading pool and a spa there, as well as a white sand "beach" with beach volleyball, a kid's play area and other activities.

Game Arcade - A large variety of games including Dance, Dance Revolution, Air Hockey, pinball, and virtual reality games. Located near the Lost Bar next to Jungle Cruise boats.

Koi Fish Ponds - Natural-looking ponds surrounded with lush greenery and filled with colorful Japanese Koi fish. Located near the Wonder Tower.

Mandara Spa, located at the Grand Californian, offers spa services including facials, massage therapy, body wraps, and manicures and pedicures. A tea ceremony is also available. Safari Adventure Remote-Controlled Jungle Cruise Boats - Guests can pilot their own Jungle Cruise boat around the lagoon. Requires tokens which can be purchased at the attraction. Located next to the Lost Bar.

Team Mickey's Workout Room - located next to the Cove Pool and open to all hotel guests. Guests must have an injury waiver on file at the Front Desk for their key to be encoded to access the Workout Room. Available equipment includes treadmills, elliptical machines, LifeCycles and weight machines, as well as a selection of free weights.

Waterfalls - Enjoy the cool mist from the waterfalls as you stroll the paths beside and behind the falls and through caves in this beautifully landscaped area. A sequence of colored lights illuminate the falls at night. Located near the Wonder Tower.

What shops are available?

Disney's Fantasia Shop, located in the lobby of the Magic Tower, offers a selection of souvenirs and collectibles, including clothing, plush animals, and jewelry.

Euro Gifts and Collectibles by Arribas Brothers - hand-crafted glass and crystal, located near the Never Land Pool.

Magic Lobby Shop - Newspapers, magazines, books, snacks and sundry items.

What is the "Resort Fee?"

The $11.00/day resort fee covers the daily newspaper delivery, local calls, self-parking, high speed internet access and use of the Fitness Center.

Are airline check-in/boarding pass printing services available?

Yes, at the business center located upstairs from Goofy's Kitchen.

What airport transportation options are available?

Taxi service from Orange County Airport (SNA) is about $40 plus tip, and from LAX about $90-$100 plus tip. Shuttle service (e.g. Super Shuttle, Disneyland Express) is available from a variety of providers for about $10.00-$14.00 one way to/from SNA and $15.00-$19.00 one way to/from LAX.
