Space Mountain is Going to Look VERY DIFFERENT Tomorrow in Disneyland

Disney’s most iconic rollercoaster is going through some OUT OF THIS WORLD changes TOMORROW.

Space Mountain has been one of Disney’s most beloved attractions since the first version opened at Disneyland way back in May of 1977. The ride wasn’t the only galactic fair to debut that month however, as the first Star Wars film also opened that May, and changed the world of cinema almost overnight. This confluence makes it all the more appropriate that Star Wars and Space Mountain have become so intertwined.

Starting on April 5th, Disneyland’s Space Mountain will once again transform into Hyperspace Mountain. This temporary Star Wars overlay — which first debuted in 2015 — features projections of ships from the franchise including Tie Fighters, X-Wings, and a Star Destroyer, all set to tracks from John Williams’ iconic score.

Hyperspace Mountain is part of the larger Season of the Force event, which runs from April 5th through June 2nd. In addition to the Space Mountain overlay, the event will feature numerous other Star Wars experiences throughout the park including the addition of new scenes to Star Tours: The Adventure Continues featuring characters from Ashoka, The Mandalorian, and Andor.

There will also be a Star Wars-centric presentation of the park’s fireworks from Galaxy’s Edge featuring sweeping John Williams music and sound effects known as “Fire of the Rising Moons.” According to Disney, the display is thematically tied to Galaxy’s Edge as a time when “villagers and visitors will come together to celebrate their freedom and to honor the heroes and legends of the galaxy who came before them.”

You’ll be able to watch the show from Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, including near the Black Spire Spaceport, the TIE Echelon docking platform, and the speeder garage. Your MagicBand+ will also interact with the show.

In addition to these attraction additions, Season of the Force will also feature new limited Star Wars food and merchandise.
