What Do They Do With Old Hotel Furniture from Disney World?

Life would be SO MUCH BETTER if you could eat breakfast from a table with little Mickeys on it every day, right? Imagine going to sleep next to some artwork that GENUINELY lived in a Disney World hotel room for a while — epic, right?

Well, if you’ve ever stayed at a Disney World hotel, only to come home and INSTANTLY wish you could transform your own house to match the hotel you just stayed in, we have good news. We’ve already got an ENTIRE post about how to make your own Disney hotel bed at home and info about how to bring home those Disney hotel pillows, but now we’re taking things a step further to see how YOU could get your hands on real (retired) Disney furniture!

Hotel Refurbishments

Disney World’s hotel rooms undergo refurbishments from time to time and sometimes certain ones will get a MASSIVE redo. Just in the last few months, we’ve shared the news about NEW rooms at Disney’s Beach Club Resort, updated rooms at Disney’s BoardWalk Inn, and redesigned Little Mermaid rooms at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort.

Room refurbishments might make you excited to book your next hotel stay within a remodeled space, but they can be interesting from a different perspective too. In order to bring about a new or remodeled room, Disney likely had to remove some things from the old rooms — whether that’s a complete gutting of EVERYTHING or just the removal of certain items (artwork, side tables, dressers, etc.).

So where do those old items go? Is there a way for YOU to grab some of it and bring it home? There might be…

Cast Member Stores

Many times, when a hotel room is refurbished in Disney World, the older furniture and other items from the room (like artwork, decorative pillows, etc.) will get sent over to Cast Member-exclusive stores called Property Control and Cast Connections.

Keep in mind that these stores are exclusive, so you can’t just walk into them. According to an older post from PlanDisney, typically only Cast Members are allowed into the Property Control store but they can bring guests into the Cast Connections store. 

According to Disney, “Property Control is where you can find discounted themed pieces that were once used in guest areas such as resort furniture and even sections of holiday garland used on Main Street U.S.A.” So access to some of the furniture pieces may be a bit more limited (in terms of mainly Cast Members getting access) — but as long as you’ve got a Cast Member to check it out for you, you could potentially bring home a bunch of amazing things.

If you have a friend or family member who is a Cast Member and you feel comfortable/close enough to ask them to take you in for a bit of shopping, you could check out some pretty EPIC things and bring them home!

Just remember, these are USED items from old hotel spaces, so they could have chips in the paint or other knicks that can make them less than perfect. That might not be the case for everything, but it is something to keep in mind!

And remember that some areas with furniture (like the Property Control store) might be limited to just Cast Members, making shopping there more complicated.

Other Spots

But wait…there’s MORE! Beyond just the Cast Member stores, some Disney furniture does appear to end up in other places that are NOT restricted to Cast Members and their friends/family. One of those spots is  Lakeland Antique Mall in Lakeland, FL.

In this spot, you’ll find vendors with a whole BUNCH of items, including ones from Disney. At one point, it was even home to a ride vehicle from Disneyland’s Snow White Scary Adventures that you could bring home for $50,000!

If you are looking for unusual Disney or Universal Studios items, the Lakeland Antique Mall should be your first stop!…

Some of the items here might be more park-specific props, but you can find resort items sometimes too — like mirrors from hotels, chairs that had been replaced from Disney World hotels, and even an entire bedroom set from places like Caribbean Beach Resort.

You never quite know what you’ll find! The antique mall is located at 3530 US 98 N, Lakeland, FL (about 40 minutes away from Disney World).

Another place you may want to check out is Forever Vintage & Surplus. They often have a variety of old items from Disney World hotels and the parks too. In one post on Instagram, they highlighted a few items they had available, including balcony chairs from Disney’s BoardWalk Inn.

At one point, they even had chairs from EPCOT’s Morocco pavilion, and rugs from a Disney World hotel room. It’s a place that might surprise you with something AMAZING!

Forever Vintage and Surplus is located at 4200 Dundee Rd, Winter Haven, FL (about 45-55 minutes from Disney World).

You can see some of their inventory online so consider checking that before you go. You can also buy items from their online store including things like an Animal Kingdom Bed Runner!

And finally, another spot where you might find old Disney hotel furniture is Resort Furniture Liquidators. This store is located at 747 W Church Street Orlando, FL (about 22 minutes from Disney World). Though their inventory might not always include tons of Disney items they can pull in items from Disney hotels — like the All-Star Resorts Mickey-themed tables shown below.
