I Wore Flip Flops to Disney World ALL DAY. Here’s What Happened.

We always try to give good advice when visiting Disney World.

Disney World Flip Flops

From offering up lists of items you might want to pack for your trip, to all kinds of other planning information, we want to make sure you can have the BEST trip possible. We also often tell you what NOT to do, but we have a confession: We recently broke one of our own rules by wearing flip flops in Disney World. So how did it go? Let’s find out.

So we wore some standard Old Navy flip flops in Disney World and wore them ALL day. Yes, we’re talking about those flip flops you can occasionally get on sale for $1! Surprisingly enough, we actually felt that our feet had been set free. First, flip flops are lightweight, but because your feet ARE so free in them, you don’t have to worry about sweaty feet and smelly socks (which is going to happen in Florida in sneakers).

Rain isn’t ideal for anyone, but one thing we don’t have to worry about when wearing flip flops is having to deal with blisters that happen with wet shoes and wet socks. We also don’t like having to change out of soggy footwear. The only downside to flip flops in the rain is that the pavement can get slick, so you need to be a little careful depending on the kind of traction your shoe has.

Rainy days can be tricky

We also liked that we could get these flip flops in a variety of colors to match any outfit and because they’re so slim, you can pack several pairs!

Okay, now that we’ve had this experience, though, we know that everyone’s mileage in flip flops will vary. Some folks need more support and cushioning, but believe it or not, you can find flip flops in a variety of styles to accommodate your needs. For example, the Clarks Women’s Arla Glison Flip-Flop has a sole that’s almost sneaker-like with some nice foam cushioning that makes it feel like you’re walking on air.

For you Crocs fans that want a flip flop, there’s the Crocs Mellow Flip Flops that have deep cupped footbeds. Even better? These are waterproof, too.

Crocs also makes these Kadee II Flip Flops that are super lightweight plus they have slim straps and a soft toe post. These would be SO easy to pack.

Of course, we’re sticking with our Old Navy Flip Flops, and if that’s all you need, by all means, grab a pair or two or three!

So if you want to wear flip flops to Disney World and you think your feet will be fine in them, we say go for it. But just in case, always pack a backup pair of shoes if you need them. You can grab MORE ideas for good shoes for Disney World here.

  1. Old Navy flip flops have been my go-to for the parks for many years! No issues except they are slippery in the rain, as stated in the article.
