Even when Disney World isn’t so busy, some rides are just super popular and will almost always have long standby lines.
You can always expect rides like Rise of the Resistance, Flight of Passage, and Seven Dwarfs Mine Train to have long waits. That’s the case with Slinky Dog Dash, too — and people are waiting MULTIPLE hours in line for this ride. But here’s the thing — you don’t have to and you shouldn’t.
For example, on May 16th, 2024 — a day that wasn’t that crowded, the wait time for Slinky Dog Dash got up to 2.5 hours. Here’s why you should never wait in that line: the line is outside, leaving you in the elements, a.k.a. the hot Florida sun. There is no shade, and you’ll just be standing out there in the sun for hours, baking and slowly turning into a swamp monster of sweat and disappointment.
If you still want to ride Slinky Dog Dash, just go ahead and do yourself the favor of purchasing Disney’s paid service to skip the lines, Genie+. Then you can wave to all those miserable people in the long standby line as you access the shorter Lightning Lane. Hollywood Studios is certainly a park where Genie+ can come in handy.
The lines for Slinky are also almost always long, too, so rope-dropping the ride or waiting until the park is close is really not going to get you much of a shorter line. Trust us — Genie+ is the way to go.

I was there on the 13th and the 16th and rode on it once with Lightning Lane pass. That ride is not worth the wait when it’s 95+.
