Rise of the Resistance — WDW Ride Seating Photos & Advice

Motion Level:

High

Will Rise of the Resistance give you motion sickness? If you’re paying for the Star Wars ride as an Individual Attraction Selection, you’re likely wanting to avoid the risk of motion sickness before shelling out the money to skip the line through a Lightning Lane.

Rise of the Resistance is a trackless dark ride that will take you through your own Star Wars story. While the ride is intense (and does feature some drops and surprises), this is not a ride that most people will find problems with motion sickness.

**Some Spoilers for Rise of the Resistance**

Outside of Rise of the Resistance, you will spot a motion sickness warning sign, pointing out specifically “rapid motion, sudden stops, sharp turns, and a swift drop.” So, what can you expect on Rise of the Resistance?

The ride features a few different parts, including a walk-through part of the attraction, where there is nothing that would cause motion sickness.

The ride does feature several motion simulator elements, including one at the beginning of the attraction that features very minor movement as you are standing in a closed room with other guests. The second instance of a motion simulator is while you are in the ride vehicle, but while it is slightly more intense it is much milder than an experience like Star Tours.

The majority of the ride is a faster paced trackless dark ride, which does feature some instances of sharp turns, spins, and moving forward and backwards. Overall, the vehicle moves smoothly, and will not have the bumpy motion of a ride like Dinosaur.

Finally, there is one element of a drop. This occurs at the end of the ride, when you are place in a motion simulator-style room. The drop is a relatively minor one – it is only 10 to 20 feet as opposed to the 130-foot drop on Tower of Terror.

While there are a few elements of features that may normally lead to motion sickness, on Rise of the Resistance they are relatively brief and mild. While the attraction is firmly classified as a thrill ride, it does not reach the level of intensity that is likely to cause motion sickness for the majority of guests.
