Disney Fans Can’t Stop Talking About This Rubber Duck Rule. Here’s Why.

Recently, Disney Cruise Line fans took to social media to discuss a (seemingly random) cruise rule.

Before we dive in, we should probably start with a little background. The practice of hiding rubber ducks around cruise ships has been a classic cruise activity on many different ships — Disney Cruise Line ships included. But we’ve got an update for Disney Cruise Line passengers — so what’s really going on with these rubber ducks?

Recently, Disney officially discouraged cruisers from hiding rubber ducks on board their ships.

Now, let’s be clear — Disney Cruise Line has not prohibited guests from bringing rubber ducks on board. Rubber ducks are still allowed to be brought on board the ship, and you can still hand them out to other passengers or put them in other guests’ fish extenders hanging outside staterooms.

However, Disney is asking guests not to hide them around the ship due to health and safety concerns.

  1. Disney cannot control the ducks, and someone could put inappropriate contents in them. And if there’s food (candy) in them and they are not found for some time, the food can turn bad.
