5 Places To Escape from Your Family on Your Trip to Disney World

Don’t get us wrong, we love Disney World (we’re there literally every day), but it can get overwhelming at times.

Expedition Everest

Between the crowds, the noise, and all the stimulation around you, it can be a lot. Not only that, your own family can become a lot at times too. Don’t feel bad — you’re spending a lot of time with each other, potentially in small quarters, while trying to accomplish everything on your must-do list. If you’re looking to escape from your family for a few minutes of peace, here are some of our top suggestions!

Walt Disney Presents

Disney’s Hollywood Studios is filled with lots of thrill rides, making it one of the most crowded parks. If you’re looking for a place to get some peace, quiet, and air conditioning away from your family, check out Walt Disney Presents.

Walt Disney Presents

This is a whole walkthrough exhibit detailing Walt Disney’s life and creation of the Disney company, films, parks, and beyond. At the end of the exhibit, where you can walk around at your own pace (or sit down on some of the benches inside), you can enter a theater, that shows a 15-minute short film about Walt Disney’s life.

Walt’s Desk

It’s a fantastic way to remind yourself how everything began, while also taking a much-needed break!

Hall of Presidents

Over in Magic Kingdom, easily considered Disney World’s most popular park by many guests, it can be hard to find a place for a break. However, the Hall of Presidents is an incredible choice.

Hall of Presidents

For one, many people don’t even know this area exists! Hall of Presidents is located in Liberty Square and is an approximately 25-minute long show detailing the history of Presidents in the United States.

To some of you, that may not sound very entertaining, which is precisely why your family may never think to look for you there. Plus, the animatronics are truly very impressive, the area has great air conditioning, and it’s a great place for a nap. Don’t knock it ’til you try it!

Storybook Circus Tent

Also in Magic Kingdom, you can head over to Storybook Circus in New Fantasyland. Now, since this is a very popular place for kids when the splash pad is open, you may be hesitant, but trust us — head to the tent.

Storybook Circus Tent

This tent is tucked into the back of the park, and once again, many guests don’t know it exists. It’s to the right of the Pete’s Silly Sideshow tent.

A great place to sit

It’s usually very quiet, out of the sun, and a prime place to take a seat and gather yourself before you continue with your day. Plus, then you can take the not-so-secret pathway behind the rest of Fantasyland to head straight to TRON Lightcycle / Run.

Morocco Pavilion

Over in EPCOT’s World Showcase, it’s often hopping with people at all times of the day. However, a great quiet spot is the Morocco Pavilion beacuse, unfortunately, this pavilion doesn’t have a lot to offer right now.

Morocco Pavilion

You may just walk past this pavilion after taking in the sights, but head into the building titled Race Against The Sun, and you’ll enter a beautiful gallery detailing Moroccan history and culture.

Race Against The Sun

This is a fantastic spot to REALLY disappear from your family, because many of these buildings don’t seem like they’re open to guests. Next time you’re walking around World Showcase and need a break, don’t skip over the Morocco Pavilion!

The End of Test Track

Also in EPCOT, but located more to the front of the park, you’ll find Test Track, one of the most popular attractions in the park. We’re not saying hop in line for that attraction — head to the exit.

Test Track SIMporium

At the exit to Test Track, called the TestTrack SIMporium, you’ll find a whole interactive section that anyone can experience, even if they didn’t ride the attraction. While it’s a great way to keep guests not riding entertained, it’s also a fantastic way to have some fun on your own away from your family.

Test Track Showroom

While this area isn’t necessarily quiet, it is air conditioned, so we wanted to be sure we included it.

  1. There are others ,of course. I find the Carousel of Progress to be very relaxing on a hot, busy day. And in Epcot, any of the movies in the countries like in Canada and China…. (did I mention I miss Impressions de France for that very reason). But as a rebuttal to your premise….I go to Disney World with my family to be with them and enjoy all WDW has to offer together. If I wanted a break from them, I would go to WDW without them. I have done so in the past when needed and always keep that option open.
