Tips For Getting Reservations at Savi’s Workshop in Disney World

Have you ever wanted to create a custom-built lightsaber just like a real Jedi?

Build your own lightsaber!

Then you probably know all about Savi’s Workshop in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. But you may also know something else about this shop: It’s almost IMPOSSIBLE to get a reservation. Well, don’t worry because we’re going to give you our best tips on securing that hard-to-get reservation.

Savi’s Workshop is a unique experience open to guests at Disney’s Hollywood Studios where you can build your own customizable lightsaber with the guidance of a “gatherer.” Reservations are not only highly recommended, but often required.  The cost for the experience (which includes a lightsaber and carrying bag) is $249.99 plus tax.

Once you’ve chosen your parts, the Master Gatherer helps you put it all together. You’ll also choose a Kyber Crystal, which will determine the color of your blade. Once the experience is all over, everyone raises the lightsabers they’ve created. You’ll then get to leave the experience with a new lightsaber and carrying bag.

Note that if you want additional customization pieces, you’ll find them at Dok Ondar’s Den of Antiquities.

Reservations for Savi’s Workshop can be made on Disney’s website or on the My Disney Experience app 60 days in advance. As we previously stated, it is HIGHLY recommended to book a reservation, as walk-in availability is not guaranteed and is rarely available.

So what’s the best thing you can do to score that reservation? Reservations tend to open at 6AM EST, so set your alarm (making sure you’re accounting for any time differences), and get up early and be ready to make that reservation 60 days from the first day of your Disney World trip. Note that you will need a credit card to reserve your spot, so have that handy.

If that doesn’t work, don’t fret! Here’s the thing: sometimes reservations open up at the last minute. So keep checking up through the day you’ll be in Hollywood Studios. You may be able to nab that reservation ON THE DAY.  Just keep that page open on the app and refresh, refresh, refresh.

If all else fails, head on over to Savi’s Workshop and see if walk-ups are available for the day. It doesn’t happen OFTEN, but sometimes, guests do get lucky and can snag a spot that way.

Note that if you end up having to cancel your reservation, you’ll need to do so 24 hours BEFORE your reservation time. If you wait longer, you’ll end up being charged the full amount for the experience.

Outside Savi’s Workshop

Your payment will be due upon arrival at Savi’s, and the experience includes only ONE lightsaber per builder.  Note that custom lightsabers are also not eligible for an Annual Passholder discount.

Builders can bring one other guest with them, but that guest is not eligible to build a lightsaber unless they’ve also reserved their spot and paid for the experience. At least one person in your party must be at least 14 years old.

Outside Savi’s

The whole experience takes around 20 minutes, so be sure to account for that time with any other reservations you make throughout the day.

Although you can bring your lightsaber on your flight home with you (it will count as a carry-on item), you can also ship it home by visiting Droid Depot.

  1. It is a magical experience. I did it back in 2019. Going back next year and although I will probably not go to Savi’s again (who am I kidding) I would recommend it to anyone and everyone!
