How To Use the NEW Virtual Queue at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

It may not be everyone’s favorite fact, but phones are a MUST at Disney World nowadays.

The My Disney Experience app is a lifeline in the parks — it holds your tickets, hotel and dining reservations, Genie+ Lightning Lanes, and shows you the wait times at every attraction. Also, if you want to do something that uses a Virtual Queue like the new merchandise experience at Hollywood Studios, you’ll need to snag a spot in the app. Confused about how it works? Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered!

Disney Vacation Planner

To celebrate the park’s 35th anniversary, Hollywood Studios is offering a Virtual Queue for parkgoers to shop special anniversary merchandise! Once you book a spot through the Virtual Queue, you’ll head to Stage 1 Company Store, which has been closed for quite some time.

We tested it out, so follow along with the steps! First, we headed over to the Disney World app where we were able to view the virtual queue for a special event. From there, we just clicked “join virtual queue.” We were able to do this starting at 7AM, and we didn’t need to be in or near the park to do so.

Immediately, it told us that we were in line and that the estimated wait before our callback was 580 minutes.

In the meantime, we were able to check out other things happening around the park while we waited for merchandise. There’s a special map/pamphlet that shows you all you need to know about the park and celebration.

There’s also a special show that folks were able to see!

How cute!

If you want to join the queue, keep the following in mind:

  • You must have valid theme park admission (and a park reservation, if applicable) for Hollywood Studios.
  • As of 7AM ET, you can join the queue through the My Disney Experience app on May 1st.
  • You do not need to be inside the park to join the queue.
  • Merchandise is subject to availability and joining the virtual queue does not guarantee access to the event.

When we got the notification that our group had been called, we headed over to Stage 1 Company Store to check it out!

We’re here!

The crowds inside were pretty moderate, which is a sign that the virtual queue did its job.
