5 Things We Learned Visiting Disney’s World of Frozen for the First Time

We still can’t believe we got to visit World of Frozen in Hong Kong Disneyland ahead of its opening on November 20th.

We’ve told you about both rides: Wandering Oaken’s Sliding Sleighs and Frozen Ever After. We’ve also told you about some of the food and merchandise you can find there. We’ve even pointed out some fun Easter Eggs. However, we also learned some super interesting things about this new land that we wanted to share.

The mountains in the background are real

The first thing we learned as this is the first land in a Disney Park to use the environment’s REAL landscaping around it to make it look bigger. The mountains you see in the background? Those are real.

Fake landscaping blends with real mountains

Disney built fake mountains that dipped below those so that the entire land looks bigger and more dynamic.

You can meet Kristoff and Oaken

This is the only Disney Park in the world where you can meet Kristoff. It’s also the only place where you can meet Oaken. The only other way to meet these characters is on the Disney Wish.

Hoo hoo!

We’ll just say now that the Oaken character interaction is easily one of the top interactions we’ve ever had. Oaken wanders around, but he will also occasionally meet in his queue line behind the “For Sale” counter. You never know where he’s going to turn up.

Good use of space

This land is relatively small, so we thought it was interesting that Wandering Oaken’s Sliding Sleighs actually goes over the top of its own queue and then over the top of the Playhouse in the Woods building.

This ride makes great use of space

We also think that the way the paths are built should help with traffic flow, even when things get super busy (especially right after the land opens to the public).

Mossie, The Troll Baby

We had no idea about the Mossie, the Troll Baby, character interaction, but it was also one of our favorites. She’s held by a Cast Member, but she can move, rock around in her little basket, and talk. We are now officially obsessed with her.

Meet Mossie!

With the help of a Cast Member, she wanders through the land for about 10 minutes at a time. We cannot even imagine how popular she’s going to be when World of Frozen officially opens.

This Frozen Ever After is better

So there are some differences between this version of Frozen Ever After and the one in EPCOT. The biggest difference is that Disney decided to ditch the face projections for this version and made the characters as fully-realized audio-animatronics instead — and we think it looks so much better.

Also, the drop during the “Let It Go” sequence is bigger and more intense. We loved it.
