Universal Orlando is a major construction zone right now — and we don’t just mean over at Epic Universe!
The new DreamWorks Land will be opening on June 14th and we’ve been keeping up with the construction progress over there as well. But, that isn’t the only construction we’ve spotted at the park recently!
It’s the season of change at Universal Studios! We spotted quite a bit of construction on a recent visit — starting with Chez Alcatraz. This counter-service spot is being renovated, which means you’ll have to get your Jaws-themed treats somewhere else.
And, don’t forget that the E.T. Adventure ride is still closed for refurbishment until May 15th, 2024. You can still visit the merchandise store, though!
Just outside the Starbucks location near the Transformers ride, you’ll find construction walls up. You can still walk along the narrow path and enter Starbucks, though!
It’s clear that Universal is working on updating quite a few areas of this park. Could it be that they’re trying to beautify the original parks in preparation for Epic Universe’s opening in 2025? Chances are the new park will bring more visitors, so it’s possible that could be the reason for these updates!

EPCOT’s construction walls were up for years and yield mediocre changes. Universal at least bangs out the construction in a fraction of the time. Sometimes with similar mediocre changes and sometimes new experiences, but far from the EPCOT turtle’s pace for what the end results have been.
Universal has had tons of construction walls up for at least a year now. They’ve been redoing pavement, refurbing buildings etc. I think the are definitely cleaning things up in time for Epic Universe when all three parks should be very crowded.
