Disney Fans Are Calling Out One Part of EPCOT That’s About to Become a DEAD ZONE

A LOT has recently happened in EPCOT as the theme park underwent a massive multi-year transformation.

The entire front of the park has been transformed, parts of the park have been renamed, THREE new attractions were added, and more. One thing that’s changing, though, could mean that an attraction in EPCOT could become very empty.

Right now, you can meet Mickey and Minnie at the Disney & Pixar Short Film Festival in EPCOT near Journey Into Imagination with Figment. This area also hosts an 18-minute festival of 3D Pixar short films. You can also visit an exhibit detailing some behind-the-scenes details about how the shorts were made.

This attraction gets a lot of visitors because Mickey and Minnie currently reside here, but that won’t always be the case. We’ve recently learned that when CommuniCore Hall opens on June 10th, the building will host a Mickey and Friends meet and greet, meaning that Mickey and Minnie will be moving to the new building.

So most of the traffic that would normally go to the Disney & Pixar Short Film Festival will be going to the new CommuniCore Hall, meaning that it’s about to get really quiet around inside that little theater. Not a lot of people take advantage of that 18 minutes of shade and air-conditioning unless they’re meeting Mickey and Minnie (which is a shame).

We’re seeing folks point out that this could create a “dead zone” in this area of EPCOT, but would that honestly be so bad? This could be our little secret spot to get out of the sun on a hot Florida day, after all. Or Disney could have other plans for different meet and greets that could go there (Pixar characters would make sense, right?).

It’s going to get quiet here

We’re not sure what kind of plans Disney has for the space after CommuniCore Hall opens, but we’ll be curious to see what happens. In the meantime, we’d still recommend visiting the Disney & Pixar Short Film Festival because — like we said — it’s a place to sit indoors with air conditioning while being entertained. Now, these short films haven’t been changed in a long time, so this could be a one-and-done experience. But Disney, if you’re paying attention, now would be a great time to put a little extra thought into this attraction.
