It really was Agatha all along…
After years of waiting — and several clearly humorous, trolling title changes — we finally have a release date for the upcoming Disney+ series based on Marvel character Agatha Harkness. The character, portrayed with acclaim by actress Kathryn Hahn, first debuted in 2021’s WandaVision, and the spinoff series was announced in the fall of that year.
At their 2024 Upfront presentation, Disney announced that the series, officially titled Agatha All Along (taking its name from the memorable Emmy-winning musical number the character performed in WandaVision) will debut on Disney+ with two episodes on September 18th.
Hahn, who was nominated for an Emmy for her initial portrayal of the character, will be joined by Joe Locke, Patti LuPone, Aubrey Plaza, Sasheer Zamata, Ali Ahn, and Debra Jo Rupp in the series, which follows Harkness as she attempts to regain the magical powers after she’d lost them in WandaVision.
Between 2022 and 2024, several titles were announced for the series including Agatha: House of Harkness, Agatha: Coven of Chaos, Agatha: Darkhold Diaries, and most recently Agatha: The Lying Witch With Great Wardrobe. There was speculation that none of these were actual titles of the series and were instead references to Agatha’s ability to change reality (and perhaps a way to reference the series taking place within parodies of different genres, similar to its parent series). This was seemingly confirmed by Marvel after the official Agatha All Along title announcement with a video on X (formerly Twitter).
