THE WORLD LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. Disney's Wide World of Sports complex hosts the Atlanta Braves' spring training season for the fifth year, including a Grapefruit League slate that begins March 1 with a game against the Florida Marlins. The Braves' 15-game schedule features dates with the New York Mets, Cleveland Indians, Houston Astros, Los Angeles Dodgers and Detroit Tigers. Their warm-up for the Grapefruit League: a Feb. 28 game against University of Georgia plus a week of practices, autograph sessions and photo opportunities galore at the 7,500-seat ballpark. Single-game ticket prices are $19 on the lower reserved level, $16.25 on the upper reserved level and the bleachers, and $11.50 for lawn seats and general admission. of the Pin Trade: Ongoing Bartering Series LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. "Lights, Camera, Action, Roll & On With the Pin Show!" The second in a series of Walt Disney World pin trading events during 2002 will take place on March 16 in Disney-MGM Studios. Limited edition pins include a variety of Disney characters, shows and movies. "Beauty and the Beast," "The Little Mermaid," "Indiana Jones," "Playhouse Disney," and an original glow-in-the-dark pin by Jeff Ebersohl will satisfy the tastes of every participant. Other limited pins as well as an exclusive character breakfast and more surprises add even more excitement to the day. Limited space remains, available for $25. to Africa's Home Away from Home LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. A culturally enlightening experience welcomes guests to explore Botswana, Kenya and South Africa on March 8, 9 and 10 as a part of the Disney's Animal Kingdom Cultural Celebration series. Music, authentic dancing, crafts, food, and educational activities about nature and wildlife will intrigue spectators. Interactive exhibits include "Tiger Leap," which shows how much farther a tiger can jump than a human by measuring the guest's jumping distance. Another exhibit involves the translation of a guest's name into the African language of his or her choice. Arise From Extinction to Come Face to Face LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. Buried fossils will come alive on April 13 in the groundbreaking debut of Chester & Hester's Pin-O-Rama! -- the first after-hours special event ever at Disney's Animal Kingdom. DinoLand U.S.A. inhabitants including Chester and Hester will be in attendance to make all guests feel at home. A night full of rides, games, food and fun will leave families digging the "dino-scene" in the brand new Chester & Hester's Dino-Rama! A blind auction will allow traders to enjoy the old pins and welcome the new Artist Choice Pin Sets, which display images of original art by Walt Disney World artists. For the first time in the 51-year history of Golf Digest, the magazine has ranked the Top 75 Golf Resorts in America. Disney Vacation Club Expanding Due to High Guest Demand LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. The Disney Vacation Club (DVC) is expanding its timeshare presence to the Disney Institute at the Walt Disney World Resort. Construction starts this spring on the DVC's newest location, which boasts an urban setting with Downtown Disney just minutes away. "The proposed ownership resort expansion will combine one of our highly successful offerings with an exciting complement of existing resort amenities," said George Aguel, senior vice president of Walt Disney Parks & Resorts. In its first 10 years, Disney Vacation Club has attracted more than 60,000 families from more than 60 countries around the world. |
