FEBRUARY 2001

It’s Valentine’s Month!
No Fairy Godmother Needed
For Couples to Find Romance
At Walt Disney World Resort

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. – Throughout the 30,500-acre Vacation Kingdom, love is in the air in February. Couples can create unforgettable Valentine’s Day memories with unique couples’ spa experiences, romantic dining options or one of several scenic “love boats” that cruise the waterways at Walt Disney World Resort.

  • The Couple that ‘Spas’ Together … -- What’s more enjoyable than a luxurious spa treatment? Imagine sharing it with that special someone. The Grand Floridian Spa & Health Club, in Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, features a “Couples Room” where guests can enjoy specialized spa treatments -- such as massages and facials -- with the one they love. For information, call 407/824-2332.
  • Disney Dining Serves Romance – Couples find Disney dining infused with romance in settings ranging from the subdued to the spectacular.

  • The California Grill atop Disney’s Contemporary Resort offers a panoramic view of the Magic Kingdom. Lights are dimmed for "Fantasy in the Sky" fireworks, with the show’s music piped in to provide diners an unforgettable view from Tinker Bell’s flight to the last burst of color. Lovebirds enjoying an earlier dinner can catch a different spectacle in the sky -- a Florida sunset over the Vacation Kingdom.

  • One of the most romantic dinner spots at Walt Disney World Resort is a table for two at Victoria & Albert’s at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, recent recipient of the prestigious AAA Five-Diamond Award. Combining Royal Doulton china, Sambonet silver and personalized menus, Victoria & Albert’s is the “crown jewel” of the Grand Floridian’s dining destinations. Soft harp music fills the air, as maids and butlers –all named Victoria or Albert – provide stellar service to each of the 18 tables in the intimate dining room. Ladies also receive a long-stemmed red rose.

For all Walt Disney World dining information, call 407/WDW-DINE (939-3463).

  • The Love Boat -- The Grand Floridian’s Grand 1 – an elegant 44-foot yacht – can give couples, or parties up to 12, a stunning view of “Fantasy in the Sky” fireworks showering above the Magic Kingdom during select evening cruises along the Seven Seas Lagoon. Private butler service and gourmet meals also are available. Romantic evening cruises include a captain and private deck hand.

Reservations can be made up to 90 days in advance by calling 407/824-2621.

Epcot Salutes African-American Heritage
For Black History Month

Artisan demonstrations include a woodcarver, fabric artists and muralists in the American Adventure Rotunda featuring achievements by Black Americans.

Storytellers communicate the stories of the murals daily and interactive exhibits showcase cultural inventions and exploration. A jazz trio offers authentic atmospheric music and Disney chefs prepare traditional fare for guests throughout the celebration. Special performances include Sisaundra Lewis with Deja-Vu February 1-12 and Ko’Thi February 13-28.

Pleasure Island Invites Guests
To Party Like It’s Mardi Gras

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. – Downtown Disney Pleasure Island transforms into the ultimate street party for the annual Mardi Gras celebration from Friday, Feb. 23 until Tuesday, Feb. 27. Celebration highlights include two nightly parades featuring the Krewe of Caesar, an authentic krewe straight from New Orleans; live Zydeco and Dixieland jazz; Cajun/Creole cuisine and entertainment from stilt walkers to jugglers and face painters. The fun is included with regular Pleasure Island admission price or a Pleasure Island Annual Pass.
