AROUND THE WORLD Popular Disney Request Answered -- For 'More Characters!' LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. - One of the most popular requests by Walt Disney World Resort guests has been answered: A caravan of characters now visits Walt Disney World hotels to provide early-day fun for guests. "We
hear from our guests, young and old, every day, that a special kind
of magic happens when they see our Disney characters," says Rich
Taylor, vice president of entertainment at the Walt Disney World Resort.
"So it only seemed appropriate that we intensify that Disney's
Character Caravan is a themed bus full of Disney characters who spend
an hour and a half at each resort welcoming guests on various mornings
(the schedule is a surprise). Guests have the opportunity to photograph
characters and request autographs during Atlanta Braves Spring Training FanFest -- Jan. 5 LAKE
BUENA VISTA, Fla. - Atlanta Braves fans will get their first taste of
spring training when tickets go on sale at Disney's Wide World of Sports
complex on Jan. 5. Fans will have the opportunity to purchase The Atlanta Braves begin their fifth season of spring training at Disney's Wide World of Sports complex in mid-February. Their 15-game home schedule is annually packed with high profile teams, including the New York Yankees, New York Mets and St. Louis Cardinals. Beginning
Jan. 5, fans may purchase Braves single-game spring training tickets
through TicketMaster by calling 407/839-3900. Spring training ticket
prices to games at Disney's Wide World of Sports are: $19 (lower reserved);
$16.25 (upper reserved and bleachers); and Special Walt Disney World Spring Training packages which include accommodations, theme park tickets and game tickets are available by calling 407/939-7810. Ninth
Annual Walt Disney World Marathon and Half LAKE
BUENA VISTA, Fla. - The 2002 Walt Disney World Marathon and Half Marathon,
scheduled for Jan. 6, 2002, will feature its largest field since the
event's inception in 1994, with 18,500 participants -- 13,500 The 26.2-mile marathon course is one of the world's most unique, featuring a journey through Disney's Animal Kingdom, Disney-MGM Studios, Epcot and the Magic Kingdom. Along the way runners receive the support of friends and spectators, as well as popular Disney characters who make appearances along the race course. The
four-day race weekend includes the two-day Disney's Health and Fitness
Expo (Jan. 4-5) and the FamilyFun Magazine 5K Fun Run (Jan. 5). The
awards ceremony will be held on Jan. 7 at Disney's Wide World For
